Match reviews by Jim Stewart:

22 Sept - A 90th minute goal sent Harriers out of the League Cup at the quarter final stage. Trailing 2-0 at half time to Church Fenton, Elvington squared the tie with goals from Dove and Wormold and extra time looked to be on the cards before the late wonder strike from the home side settled the match.

29 Sept - Harriers comfortably through to round 2 of the FA Cup with a 5-2 win against fellow Div 2 side Fulford. A Dove hat trick (his second in 3 games) plus goals from Alexander and Robertson put the Harriers through.

Sat 6 Oct - Harriers through to next round of East Riding Cup. Drawing 2-2 after 90 minutes away at Long Riston with goals from Dove and an extremely rare Foster header, Harriers scored 3 more goals in extra time to win 5-2. Dove added his second of the match, Alexander calmly rounded the keeper several times before slotting in and Elsegood smashed in a 30 yard volley. An excellent performance and result.

Sat 13 Oct - Harriers finally started their League programme with a 2-1 away win at Fulford. Two free kicks from man of the match Alexander were enough to win the points in a match with few scoring opportunities.

20 Oct - 100% start to the league season continues. EH 3 v 1 Post Office. Elvington maintained their winning start to this season's league programme in a very tight game. Hovington fired in from the edge of the box to score the only goal of the first half. Having conceded an equaliser on 50 mins, Harriers picked up the pace and scored two more goals - Small driving in a fierce shot after a pull back from Dove and then Dove turned in a Small corner from close range.

27 Oct - Harriers through to the last 16 of the FA Cup - Four goals, including 2 headers, from leading scorer Dove took his season total to 14 in 7 games and helped Elvington through to the next round of the FA Cup. The visitors scored very early but Harriers recovered well and played some good football, creating numerous opportunities and scoring 3 goals before half time. Dove added a fourth in the second half and,

having made several fine saves, Sagar was beaten from the penalty spot late on to make the score 4-2.

3 Nov - Harriers into Quarter Final of East Riding Cup. Elvington won their 6th consecutive match on Saturday, beating Hodgsons FC in a very tight game to progress to the last 8 of the East Riding Cup.  Trailing from the 10th minute, Harriers remained patient and got their reward in the final 10 minutes when Dove finished from a Bowles cross and Small volleyed in from the edge of the box after a smart knock down.

Sat 10 Nov - Huby 3 Elvington 2 - Harriers lose 100% start to league season - in a windy match on a sloping pitch, Harriers found themselves 2 goals down before Dove and Rycroft made the game all square with 5 minutes remaining. There was still time, however, for Huby to score a third and for the visitors to controversially have a second Dove goal disallowed.

24 Nov - Elvington out of the FA Cup - Harriers 4 v 4 Bishopthorpe Res(aet) - Bishopthorpe through 4-2 on penalties. In a highly entertaining game on a heavy pitch, goals from Small, Dove, Hovington and Bowles meant that the tie finished all square after extra time and was decided by penalties. Despite Sagar pulling off a great save, Elvington could not capitalise and went down 2-4.

1 Dec - Elvington v Rufforth United. Lost 0-1.

Sat 8 Dec - Selby RSSC (away) in the league. Won 4-2. In driving rain and freezing conditions, Harriers recovered well after going a goal down early in the first half. Small scored after great wing play by Hovington on the right to make it 1-1 at half time. The second half brought a wonder goal from Small, chipping the keeper from the edge of the box after beating 4 men, Hovington drilled in from 12 yards and man of the match Jimmy Sagar thundered in his first ever goal for Elvington. Selby grabbed a late consolation.

Sat 15 Dec - St Clements (home) in the league - match postponed due to frozen pitch.

29 Dec - Hemingbrough (a) - D0-0. This was originally a home game but we have swapped the fixtures so will now play them at home in Feb.

5 Jan - Strensall (a) - postponed due to waterlogged pitch

12 Jan - Strensall (h) - postponed due to waterlogged pitch.

Sat 19 Jan - Post Office (away) 3-3. Late Bowles free kick saves Harriers - In only their second match since 8 Dec, Harriers found themselves two goals down after just 15 mins. Dove then scored twice before half time (his 150th and 151st goals for the club). Post Office scored early in the second half and a home win looked to be on the cards until Bowles found the top corner with a stunning 20 yard free kick in the last minute.

26 Jan - York RI (h) Lost 1-2.  Harriers finally started to play with 30 mins to go but, by that time, they were two goals down York RI having scored with a looping header after 3 mins and then doubling their lead on the half hour. Captain Rycroft hit the bar in the second half before Dove finished well when through one on one with the keeper. Few further chances were created in a very tight game.

2 Feb- Molescroft (a) ERC - Postponed.

9 Feb - Hemingborough (h) league L2-4

Elvington conceded their customary early goal before drawing level through Dove. The home side went behind again after 40 mins then Hovington fired into the top corner after a good lay off from Dove. Half time 2-2. Despite dominating possession, hitting the bar and having two chances cleared off the line, Elvington somehow conspired to let in 2 second half goals by Hemingborough on the break.

16 Feb - Molescroft (a) ERC QF - D1-1aet (lost 2-4 on pens)

As with the two previous rounds in this competition, this was a hugely enjoyable match. Both sides tried to play decent football on a very heavy pitch.

Elvington took the lead after 12 mins when Dove fired in after a Robertson knock down. The home side equalised soon after. Elvington continued to create numerous goal scoring opportunities but, as has often been the case recently, could not convert them. It was, therefore, no surprise that extra time and penalties were required.

23 Feb - Moor Lane (a) league - W6-0

Strong battling and a lot of patience in the first half were followed by some superb football after the break. Captain Rycroft headed Elvington in front just before the break. The second half saw an outrageous bicycle kick from Robertson fly into the top corner, Alexander smashing in from close range and a Ben Small hatrick, including a sublime chip over the keeper.
